Volume 3. Spiritual Struggle
The third volume of the Spiritual Counsels of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos is devoted to the spiritual struggle of a person against sin and against whatever hinders their drawing near to God. The Elder speaks about the struggle against evil thoughts, the right attitude toward injustice, the working of conscience, repentance, and the need for an attentive inner life. Particular attention is given to the Mystery of Confession and to the role of the spiritual father, who helps a person see their mistakes and grow spiritually in safety. The Elder’s lively conversations, simple examples, and practical advice show how, through repentance and spiritual struggle, one can be freed from sinful habits and find peace of soul.
