Eastern Orthodoxy in Southeast Asia

Eastern Orthodoxy is present in Southeast Asia primarily through the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), which established the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia in 2018, with its center in Singapore.

This ecclesiastical structure provides pastoral care and coordinates missionary and parish life across the region, including countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, and others.

The Exarchate is organized into several dioceses (including Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippine–Vietnamese Diocese) and oversees a growing network of parishes, clergy, and Orthodox communities serving both local faithful and Orthodox Christians residing in the region.

The presence of the Orthodox Church in Southeast Asia has expanded significantly in recent decades, reflecting both missionary activity and the increasing number of Orthodox believers living in the region.
